ABOUT LAUREN

Lauren Cazares is a dedicated and experienced Policy Advisor at the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, where she specializes in issue areas such as environment & sustainability, education & workforce, small business, and economic development. A lifelong resident of East County, San Diego, Lauren is deeply committed to her community and its future.

Prior to joining the Chamber, Lauren honed her skills in various political roles, including serving as Director of Scheduling and Administration for San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, Political Fundraiser, and Campaign Manager. With over seven years of experience in politics, Lauren has a proven track record in advocacy, fundraising, and organizing, contributing to key regional races in 2020 and 2022.

As the proud eldest daughter of small business owners in Barrio Logan and granddaughter of immigrants, Lauren’s passion for politics began in her youth and flourished as she pursued her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science & Women’s Studies from Point Loma Nazarene University, graduating Cum Laude as a first-generation college graduate. Lauren is part of the Emerge California Class of 2023 and actively works toward equality and protection for LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff at her alma mater.

Lauren’s commitment to her community extends beyond her professional life, as she serves on numerous boards and committees. Her involvement includes the City of La Mesa Community Police Oversight Board, San Diego Community Power Community Advisory Committee (La Mesa Representative), San Diego Leadership Alliance 501c(3) Board, San Diego Democrats for Equality, Normal Heights United Staff-Parish Relations Committee, East Area Caucus of the County Democratic Party, League of Women Voters, San Diego Pride She Fest, and the MTS Community Advisory Committee. She is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the success of these organizations.

With a background in dance, theatre, and soccer from her time at Murray Manor Elementary School and Parkway Middle School in La Mesa, Lauren brings a well-rounded and diverse perspective to her work. As a Latina and member of the LGBTQ+ community, she is passionate about advocating for underrepresented voices and working towards a more equitable future for all.
